Juvenile Mental Health Court

Third Circuit Court’s Juvenile Mental Health Court identifies youth with mental health issues and diverts them from the formal court docket.
Led by the Hon. Judy Hartsfield, Mental Health Court strives to:
- Connect youth and their families to appropriate services in the community
- Reduce the number of young people with mental health issues who reoffend
- Increase adherence to appropriate services for mental health issues by using a multidisciplinary team approach to develop and monitor service plans and compliance
Youth and their families in the program often have weekly status review hearings, with close monitoring of active cases. Youth are rewarded for program progress.
Third Circuit Court’s Case Management Team provides drug testing, assessment and treatment referrals as well as case management and other community support services as needed.
Clinical Assessments, Home-Based therapy, medication reviews, and other clinical groups are provided by the Clinic for Child Study.
