ORDER INSTITUTING ELECTRONIC FILING SYSTEM FOR FAMILY/DOMESTIC DIVISION

ORDER INSTITUTING ELECTRONIC FILING SYSTEM
FOR FAMILY/DOMESTIC DIVISION

At a session of this Court

Effective August 8, 2022, the Family Domestic Division of Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan will begin accepting pleadings and documents for filing through the new electronic Domestic Relations Case Filings System (System). Filers may use this System in addition to the current in-person and mail options for filing. The new System may be used Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The System will NOT be available in the evenings, on weekends or on Court holidays.  

The Domestic Case Filings System can be used for filings on the following case types:

  • DC-Custody
  • DM-Divorce with minor child(ren)
  • DO-Divorce without minor child(ren)
  • DP-Paternity
  • DS-Family Support
  • DZ-Miscellaneous family domestic
  • NC-Name Change

Submissions for qualifying case types include fee waivers. 

The Domestic Case Filings System CANNOT be used for filings on the following case types:

  • Collaborative Law Process Cases
  • Emancipations
  • ID-Infectious Disease

These filings must be done in person or via mail

Personal Protection Order petitions and motions shall continue to be filed electronically on Michigan Legal Help’s website as directed via the Third Circuit Court Family Domestic Division’s website.

Wavier of parental consent cases shall be filed via an email to Presiding Judge Melissa A. Cox’s courtroom email box.

The new electronic System expands filing options for the Family Division-Domestic Relations Section.  To facilitate this new option, the Wayne County Clerk’s Office will reduce in-person filings to Monday and Thursdays ONLY, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. starting Monday, August 8, 2022.

All other mandates issued in this Court’s February 25, 2022 Order Resuming On-Site Filings for Family/Domestic Division shall remain in place, except for those changed by this Order.
