State of Emergency - Resumption of Matters in the Family Division - Juvenile Section

STATE OF EMERGENCY
RESUMPTION OF MATTERS IN THE FAMILY DIVISION - JUVENILE SECTION


In further compliance with Governor Whitmer's declared State of Emergency, and Michigan Supreme Court Administrative Order 2020-2 and 2020-6, and pursuant to Chief Judge Timothy M. Kenny, the Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan (Third Circuit Court) shall remain open to address essential operations.

The following delinquency matters will commence effective April 27, 2020:

  • Pre-trials
  • Plea hearings
  • Dispositions
  • Motion hearings
  • Probation review hearings

The following child protective matters will commence effective May 11, 2020:

  • Pre-trials
  • Plea hearings
  • Dispositions
  • Motion hearings
  • Permanency Planning and Dispositional review hearings

Custody and paternity matters will commence effective May 11, 2020.

Bench trials in all matters will commence effective June 1, 2020.

Jury trials will commence at a date to be determined.

Resumption of all hearings is based upon the agreement of the parties to hear the matter remotely. The public and media will be excluded from the courtrooms, but will have access to all court proceedings via YouTube. Access to YouTube for court proceedings will be available on the Court's website: http://www.3rdcc.org/.
