State of Emergency - Resumption of Trials in the Criminal Division

STATE OF EMERGENCY

RESUMPTION OF TRIALS IN THE CRIMINAL DIVISION


In further compliance with Governor Whitmer's declared state of emergency, and Michigan Supreme Court Administrative Order 2020-2 and 2020-6 and pursuant to Chief Judge Timothy M. Kenny, the Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan (Third Circuit Court) shall remain open to address essential operations.

The following will be in effect until further order of the court:

Bench trials will resume in the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice on Monday, June 1, 2020.

Jury trials will resume in the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice on Monday, August 17, 2020.

The Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division will limit the number of bench and jury trials each day to ensure proper social distancing and the health and safety of all in the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice.

The public and media will be excluded from the courtrooms but will have access to all court proceedings via YouTube. Access to YouTube for court proceedings will be available on the Court's website: http://www.3rdcc.org/

Bench trials may resume before June 1, 2020, if all parties agree to conduct the entire trial remotely.
