Court Public Satisfaction Survey Results

Detroit, MI - “We listen to the court users and the public so we can make good public service even better,” says Chief Judge Robert J. Colombo, Jr. of the Third Circuit Court.

For three consecutive years, Third Circuit Court has asked the public to rate its delivery of services in key areas and Third Circuit Court continues to receive high ratings.

Court users rate the Court's accessibility and its treatment of the public in terms of fairness, equality, and respect.

Over 79% of the people surveyed agreed or strongly agreed that they could complete their court business in a reasonable amount of time, 93% agreed or strongly agreed that they were treated with courtesy and respect by court staff, 83% agreed or strongly agreed that they were treated with courtesy and respect by judges and referees, and 86% agreed or strongly agreed that they understood what happened in their case.

Unwilling to rest on its laurels, the Third Circuit Court is launching several new strategic initiatives including expanded outreach and education in schools and the Wayne County communities, additional Self-Help Center staffing, and expanded staff diversity and customer service training to ensure continued high quality services. Many still do not know about the Court's semi-annual Friend of the Court events that help resolve child support issues, the various initiatives funded by the Casey Foundation that help promote permanency for children, and the positive outcomes of participants in the Veteran's Treatment and the Adult and Juvenile Drug and Mental Health Courts.

The mission of the Third Circuit Court is to provide accessible and equal justice with timely dispute resolution. The Third Circuit Court is the largest trial court in Michigan with over 60,000 new filings annually. The Court has 58 judges and approximately 600 staff who are committed public servants. Chief Judge Colombo and the Court Leadership team are proud of the public's high level of satisfaction with the services.
