First Graduation of the Juvenile Mental Health Court

The Third Circuit Court will be celebrating the first graduation of the Juvenile Mental Health Court on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. The ceremony will be held at Michigan State University's Detroit Center, 3408 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, 48201.

The graduating participants will receive their certificates of completion, and Jonathan Edison, renowned motivational speaker, will deliver the keynote address.

The Juvenile Mental Health Court (JMHC), one of only six programs in the state of Michigan, is a problem-solving court. The program combines judicial supervision with community mental health and other support services, in an effort to reduce court contact and out-of-home placements for juveniles, and improve the quality of life for program participants and their families.

The JMHC is supervised and led by Judge Edward Joseph. The program has successfully partnered with agencies and services throughout Wayne County to offer mental health treatment, pro-social activities, educational groups, and support services to all program participants in an effort to promote the independence, empowerment and success of the youth and their families.

For additional information regarding the JMHC program, please contact Deborah Nelson at (313) 833-1568.

Media may contact Court Administration at (313) 224-2236 to arrange an interview with Judge Joseph. Video and audio recording of the graduation ceremony is not permitted.
