Michigan law prohibits court employees from giving legal advice
On-Site Assistance – Visitors have to go through security & comply with security requirements in that location.
- Michigan Legal Self-Help Centers
- Computers and Self-Help Center staff (called “navigators”) help visitors find information & court forms on the website & answer basic questions about court procedures.
- Navigators cannot give legal advice.
- Salvation Army/William Booth Legal Aid Clinic
By appointment only.
- The Detroit Legal Services Clinic
- Free legal aid & assistance to qualifying individuals
- Visitors must arrive early and sign in
- 1st Thursday each month for default issues only
- 13th Floor Penobscot Building on specific Tuesdays each month from 12pm to 3pm
- Free legal advice from volunteer attorneys on domestic relations issues, expungement, self-representation, general civil law

- ACCESS: Arab Community Center for Economic & Social Services – 6450 Maple, Dearborn MI 48126 – 2nd Friday of every month, 9am-3pm
- LA SED: Latin Americans for Social and Economic Development – 4138 Vernor Hwy, Detroit MI 48209 – 2nd Friday of every month, 10am -4pm
- Focus: HOPE - 1200 Oakman Boulevard, Detroit, MI 48238 – 4th Wednesday of every month, 9am-3 pm
- Team Wellness Center – 6309 Mack Avenue, Detroit MI 48207 – 4th Thursday of every month, 9am-3pm
- Starfish Family Services- 26429 Michigan Ave, Inkster 48141- 2nd Friday of every month
- The Resource Network- 11816 Jos Campau, Hamtramck 48212- 3rd Tuesday of every month
