The Third Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan joins with the Detroit Bar Association (DBA) to host the new attorney mass swearing in ceremony.

Subject: New Attorney Mass Admission Ceremony

 

WHO: The Third Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan joins with the Detroit Bar Association (DBA) to host the new attorney mass swearing in ceremony. Chief Judge Timothy M. Kenny will preside over the Admission Ceremony, Judge Patricia P. Fresard will deliver the welcoming address, and Judge Tracy E. Green will administer the Oath. There will also be a special tribute to the Hon. Lucile M. Watts who served as a Third Circuit Court Judge from 1980 through 1994 and recently passed in 2018. Elected Officials, public guests, and media are invited to join in the celebration.

WHAT:
Lawyers contribute in various ways, helping clients directly and holding public offices of trust. Admission to the bar is the culmination of years of study and the successful passing of a rigorous exam. New Lawyers will take the oath of the profession. The admission ceremony marks the beginning of individuals beginning the practice of law and is celebrated with friends and family as the venerated lawyers and judges welcome the new lawyers into the profession.

Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, 13th Floor Auditorium, Two Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI 48226.

WHEN: Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Chief Judge will begin the actual swearing in at 12:30 p.m. and all attendees should be seated.

WHY:
The practice of law is held in high esteem. New attorneys are admitted twice per year. Inspirational and aspirational stories will be shared by the newly admitted attorneys, the DBA leadership, and the Chief Judge.
