Third Circuit Court of Michigan Hosts Adoption Day Celebration on Friday, Nov. 21 in Detroit

Detroit – The Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan will celebrate completed adoptions and the continuing adoption opportunities available to Wayne County families as part of its annual Adoption Day Celebration held on Friday, November 21 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Criminal Justice Center in Detroit. It will be inside Courtroom 203.

Held at the Criminal Justice Center in Detroit, Adoption Day is open to invited families and guests who have taken part in a recent adoption in Wayne County. Attending media members will have the opportunity to interview families involved in recent adoptions.

“There are certain days of the year that all of us at Third Circuit Court truly look forward to and this is one of them,” said Third Circuit Court Chief Judge Patricia Perez Fresard. “It’s incredible to see the impact that these families have on their adopted child and vice-versa. It is a rewarding experience that is the culmination of hard work from many people.”

Adoption provides youth with the opportunity for a bright future and a critical lifelong family connection, said Interim Presiding Judge of the Court’s Family – Juvenile Division, the Hon. Sheila Ann Gibson. “These families have some of the most inspiring stories that I have seen on the Bench,” Judge Gibson said.

The Third Judicial Circuit finalizes adoptions for families who have successfully fostered children that were removed from their parents or guardian’s care and custody on Adoption Day. These families are committed to giving the fostered children a “forever family.” The Court also provides additional support and resources through its Family Assessment Services specialty program.
