All Referee hearing dates must be obtained from the Friend of the Court Scheduling Office located in Room 900A of the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center After You have filed your motion with the County Clerk in Room 201. If you have questions related to the dockets other than scheduling, please contact the assigned support staff listed above.

Instructions on How to Reschedule a Referee Hearing
Motion Hearings
With the consent of the other party, either party can request the rescheduling of a motion hearing. If consent from the other party is not obtained, a motion hearing will not be rescheduled.
Requirements
   • Requests should be submitted at least five (5) days prior to the original hearing date.
   • Complete a Reschedule Referee Motion Hearing Form.**
   • All parties must reach an agreement as to the next available date the parties will be ready to proceed.

If your hearing is scheduled before the Assigned Referee in the Penobscot Building 645 Griswold Detroit, MI - please fax your request to the Referee Support Staff at (313) 237-9268.

If your hearing is scheduled before the Parenting Time Referee in the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center Two Woodward Ave. Courtroom 1501 Detroit, MI - please fax your request to the Referee Support Staff at (313) 237-9305.


** If neither party is represented by an attorney, each party must complete and fax separate rescheduling forms. Both forms must be received before a hearing will be rescheduled
Administrative Hearings (excluding Show Cause Hearings***)
Requests to reschedule hearings that were administratively initiated by the Friend of the Court must be done by contacting the Referee’s Support Staff by telephone (see Referee Support Telephone List) or faxing a written request to (313) 237-9268. Both parties must consent to the request before a hearing can be rescheduled.
Examples of Administrative Hearings
   • License Suspension Hearings.
   • Modification and Review Hearings.
   • Hearings previously adjourned by the Referee.

Requirements
   • All parties must reach an agreement as to the next available date the parties will be ready to proceed.
   • If done by telephone, each party must contact the Referee Support Staff.
   • If done by fax, each party must fax their own separate request or both parties may sign one request.

*** Show Cause Hearings cannot be rescheduled. If the non-custodial parent fails to appear, a bench warrant may be issued against him or her.

Instructions on Filing a Friend of the Court Referee Motion By Mail
A motion can be filed by mail; however, be advised that it may take up to 30 days for you to receive a hearing date in the mail. Motions being filed by mail must be mailed to:

DO NOT MAIL MOTION TO THE FRIEND OF THE COURT
Your motion must first be filed with the Wayne County Clerk before the Friend of the Court will schedule a hearing.
WHAT TO MAIL TO THE WAYNE COUNTY CLERK

   • The original, plus four copies of the motion and any additional sheets you have attached.

   • A copy of the current court order you wish to change; if applicable. Check the instructions attached to the motion to see if a copy of the court order is required for your motion.

   • The motion filing fee in the form of a money order, made out to the "Wayne County Clerk". The motion filing fee is indicated in the instructions attached to the motion. If you cannot afford the filing fee, you may submit an Affidavit and Order Suspension of Fee/Costs Form along with your motion. You must enclose copies of documents supporting your current income.

   • A self-stamped addressed envelope and a letter requesting a stamped copy of the motion be returned to you for your records.
Once filed, the Wayne County Clerk, will forward the motion to the Friend of the Court. If the motion has the required attachments, the FOC Scheduling Office will schedule the motion and mail out a notice providing the date and time of the hearing. If the motion does not have the required attachments or is incomplete, a hearing will not be scheduled and the motion will be returned to you.

MiCase Now Known as MiChild Support

As of October 31, 2014, the MiCase website was renamed MiChildSupport. The MiChildSupport portal still includes the MiCase website, a site at which Friend of the Court users can access their child support accounts to see payments, amounts due and hearing dates scheduled. The new MiChildSupport service has been expanded to include the online child support application, child support verification tool and access to additional information related to child support services. Also, the MiCase website was updated to allow users to easily view the website on their mobile devices.
